While choosing industrial furniture keep in mind that the industrial era used materials that were bulky and heavy such as solid wood and steel. These pieces were made to last for years and took alot of wear and tear. You can still find some of these peices today. Their worn, weathered look gives them character and adds a bit of drama to any space. They may be covered in leather, heavy denim, linen, cotton ticking or wool. Besides wood and steel you may find pieces made of galvanized metal and iron with muted industrial paint and powder-coated finishes.
You may use driftwood, scrap wood, or plastic planks, for making a wall rack. If you do not wish to drill nails into your wall, you may fix loops into both the sides of each rack. You may then use flexible wire or strong synthetic strings, that must be attached to the loops and be connected to the ceiling. You may either use opaque strings or choose to decorate the strings with colorful beads. You can also try painted furniture for a change, by simply painting the racks in different colors. Use three to five racks, which must form an attractive design as a wall rack.
Your web search may end up in contacting furniture companies directly for any stock remaining of their earlier models. If you are still not satisfied with your search; visit yard sales, antique furniture shops, estate sales, and furniture auctions. You are more likely to get what you want in these shops than in big clearance sales. These type of sales are good if you are in search for a replacement piece of the furniture that you bought some years ago.
Here's what might happen - the chemicals used on furniture react to the increase in temperature and compounds are formed or chemical reactions take place, that oxidize or burn the wood. The obvious change in color is a visible indicator of such a reaction. Keeping hot pans, cookery, plates, glasses, mugs or food containers, even take out cartons and pizza boxes on a wooden surface will cause these unsightly marks to appear. Laying a tablecloth or covering the surface with a towel or cloth can prevent a stain from occurring but depending on the furniture's surface and the heat of the object, results may vary.
